Here are some common questions about the CCEW app, organised by topic for easy navigation.
A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) is a mandatory legal document in New South Wales required for most types of electrical work. It serves as a declaration by the licensed electrician that the work has been completed, inspected, and tested to ensure it complies with all relevant safety standards, including AS/NZS 3000 (the Australian Wiring Rules) and applicable Australian Standards.
A CCEW is required for almost all electrical installation work, including new installations, alterations, additions, and repairs. It must be completed and given to the customer and the electricity distributor within the required timeframe. Some minor work may be exempt, but when in doubt, it’s always safer to provide a CCEW.
Only a licensed electrical contractor or a qualified electrician employed by that contractor is authorised to complete, sign, and issue a CCEW. The licence holder is personally responsible for the accuracy of the information and the compliance of the work.
A CCEW must contain comprehensive details including: electrician details (names, licence numbers), customer information, property address, a detailed description of the electrical work performed, test results for safety checks, and compliance declarations. All information must be accurate and legible.
Failing to provide a CCEW when required can result in significant penalties, including fines up to $22,000 and licence suspension. It can also void insurance claims related to the electrical work, create liability issues, and may require the work to be re-inspected and certified at additional cost.

Using the tool

No. This is an independent, professional tool designed to help NSW electricians create CCEW forms efficiently. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any NSW government agency like Fair Trading or SafeWork NSW. The generated PDF is formatted to meet official requirements, but you are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.
The PDF generated by our tool is formatted to mirror the official NSW CCEW layout and includes all mandatory fields as per current regulations. However, compliance is ultimately your responsibility. Always double-check that the information you’ve entered is accurate and that the completed form meets all current legal and local requirements before signing and issuing it.
We use industry-standard security practices including encryption and secure data storage. Your client and job-specific data is processed securely, and for users with accounts, profile data (like your name and licence number) is stored encrypted in our database. We never share your data with third parties and you can delete your account and data at any time.
When you’re logged in, you can save an installer profile and a tester profile. This information is stored securely and linked to your account. The next time you fill out a form, you can load your saved profile instantly, saving significant time and reducing typos.
You can fill out and preview CCEW forms without an account. However, to download the completed PDF, you need to create a free account. This gives you 3 downloads per month at no cost.
Pro users get access to smart address autocomplete that speeds up property address entry, and NSW licence lookup tools that help verify electrician licence details. These features save time and reduce errors when filling out forms.
The generated PDF is a final document and cannot be edited directly. If you find a mistake, simply return to the web form, correct the information, and generate a new, updated PDF. If you have Form Saving toggled on, you can retreive a copy of your previous CCEW to edit it and redownload the certificate.

Only when you click “Download PDF” for a completed certificate does it count toward your monthly limit of 3 (Free) or unlimited (Pro).
