# Common questions

> Common questions about CCEW forms, the tool, and account features

Here are some common questions about the CCEW app, organised by topic for easy navigation.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What is a CCEW?">
    A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) is a mandatory legal
    document in New South Wales required for most types of electrical work. It
    serves as a declaration by the licensed electrician that the work has been
    completed, inspected, and tested to ensure it complies with all relevant
    safety standards, including AS/NZS 3000 (the Australian Wiring Rules) and
    applicable Australian Standards.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="When is a CCEW required?">
    A CCEW is required for almost all electrical installation work, including
    new installations, alterations, additions, and repairs. It must be completed
    and given to the customer and the electricity distributor within the
    required timeframe. Some minor work may be exempt, but when in doubt, it's
    always safer to provide a CCEW.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Who can issue a CCEW?">
    Only a licensed electrical contractor or a qualified electrician employed by
    that contractor is authorised to complete, sign, and issue a CCEW. The
    licence holder is personally responsible for the accuracy of the information
    and the compliance of the work.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What information is required on a CCEW?">
    A CCEW must contain comprehensive details including: electrician details
    (names, licence numbers), customer information, property address, a detailed
    description of the electrical work performed, test results for safety
    checks, and compliance declarations. All information must be accurate and
    legible.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What are the consequences of not having a CCEW?">
    Failing to provide a CCEW when required can result in significant penalties,
    including fines up to \$22,000 and licence suspension. It can also void
    insurance claims related to the electrical work, create liability issues,
    and may require the work to be re-inspected and certified at additional
    cost.
  </Accordion>

## Using the tool

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Is this an official government tool?">
    No. This is an independent, professional tool designed to help NSW
    electricians create CCEW forms efficiently. It is not affiliated with, or
    endorsed by, any NSW government agency like Fair Trading or SafeWork NSW.
    The generated PDF is formatted to meet official requirements, but you are
    responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is the generated certificate legally compliant?">
    The PDF generated by our tool is formatted to mirror the official NSW CCEW
    layout and includes all mandatory fields as per current regulations.
    However, compliance is ultimately your responsibility. Always double-check
    that the information you've entered is accurate and that the completed form
    meets all current legal and local requirements before signing and issuing
    it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How is my data and my clients' information kept secure?">
    We use industry-standard security practices including encryption and secure
    data storage. Your client and job-specific data is processed securely, and
    for users with accounts, profile data (like your name and licence number) is
    stored encrypted in our database. We never share your data with third
    parties and you can delete your account and data at any time.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How does saving a profile work?">
    When you're logged in, you can save an installer profile and a tester
    profile. This information is stored securely and linked to your account. The
    next time you fill out a form, you can load your saved profile instantly,
    saving significant time and reducing typos.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I need an account to use this tool?">
    You can fill out and preview CCEW forms without an account. However, to
    download the completed PDF, you need to create a free account. This gives
    you 3 downloads per month at no cost.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What are the smart lookup features?">
    Pro users get access to smart address autocomplete that speeds up property
    address entry, and NSW licence lookup tools that help verify electrician
    licence details. These features save time and reduce errors when filling out
    forms.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens if I make a mistake on the form?">
    The generated PDF is a final document and cannot be edited directly. If you
    find a mistake, simply return to the web form, correct the information, and
    generate a new, updated PDF. If you have Form Saving toggled on, you can
    retreive a copy of your previous CCEW to edit it and redownload the
    certificate.
  </Accordion>

## Account and pricing

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How does the account system work?">
    You can fill out and preview CCEW forms without an account. However, to
    download the completed PDF, you need to create a free account. Free accounts
    get 3 downloads per month. Pro accounts get unlimited downloads plus smart
    lookup features and advanced form management.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What's the pricing? Is the free plan really free?">
    Yes, there's no catch. Creating an account and using up to 3 downloads per
    month is completely free forever. For users who need more downloads, we
    offer an affordable Pro plan with unlimited downloads, smart address/licence
    lookup, and enhanced profile features with quick prefilling. No setup fees,
    no contracts, and no per-circuit pricing.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do download limits work exactly?">
    Download limits apply only to generating final PDF certificates. You can
    preview PDFs unlimited times, edit forms as much as needed, and load saved
    forms without affecting your limit. Only when you click "Download PDF" for a
    completed certificate does it count toward your monthly limit of 3 (Free) or
    unlimited (Pro).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="When do download limits reset?">
    Download limits reset on the first day of each calendar month. If you use
    all 3 downloads in January, you'll get 3 new downloads on February 1st. Pro
    users never hit limits regardless of usage.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What extra features do Pro users get?">
    Pro users get unlimited downloads, smart address autocomplete with Google
    Maps, NSW licence lookup and verification, saved installer and tester
    profiles with quick prefilling, access to unlimited saved forms history, and
    priority support. It's designed for busy electricians who need efficiency
    and reliability.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I cancel my Pro subscription anytime?">
    Yes, you can cancel your Pro subscription anytime through your account
    billing page. You'll continue to have Pro access until the end of your
    current billing period, then automatically return to the free plan with 3
    downloads per month.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What payment methods do you accept?">
    We accept all major credit cards and debit cards through our secure Stripe
    payment processing.
  </Accordion>

## Technical support

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="The PDF isn't downloading. What should I do?">
    First, ensure you're signed in and haven't exceeded your download limit.
    Then check that all required fields are complete. If your browser is
    blocking downloads, check your pop-up blocker settings and temporarily
    disable ad-blocker extensions. Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox,
    Safari, or Edge) if the problem persists.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which web browsers are supported?">

    Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge. For the best experience,
    we recommend keeping your browser updated.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I use this tool offline?">
    You need an internet connection to load the tool, log in, and download PDFs.
    While you can fill out forms offline once loaded, an internet connection is
    required to save profiles, sync data, and generate the final PDF download.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I delete my account and data?">
    You can delete your account and all associated data through your account
    settings page. This action is permanent and cannot be undone. All your saved
    profiles, form history, and subscription information will be permanently
    removed.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I provide feedback or suggest a new feature?">
    We're constantly improving based on user feedback. Contact us at
    [support@ccew.com.au](mailto:support@ccew.com.au) to send suggestions,
    report issues, or request features. We appreciate all feedback and use it to
